Grace - Opportunity Scholarship

Individuals interested in a Barber Styling career are invited to compete for the LEBC

Grace - Opportunity Scholarship at Lake Erie Barber College .  This merit-based award offers individuals who are financially stressed and/or in the process of re-establishing themselves as a result of internment; a chance to be awarded up to $6,599.99  in tuition remission at Lake Erie Barber College.  These scholarships are non-renewable.

Your scholarship application should be sent to the Office of Admissions, and Registration and Records at Lake Erie Barber College,  attention Director.  You must have submitted a complete application for admission to be considered.

This scholarship is awarded in the form of LEBC fee remission and does not represent a cash award.  Therefore, it may not be combined with any other scholarship or assistance program.

SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT:  $889.99 - $6,599.99

Qualifications for applicants

• Proof of financial stress (form 1040, public assistance or unemployment documentation etc.).
• Proof of rehabilitation support (previous substance abuse, incarceration or housing) if applicable.
• Reside in Ohio
• Proof of U.S. residency for at least 90 days prior to the date of application may be required.  Note that an alien possessing a nonimmigrant or temporary visa cannot be classified as an Ohio resident.
• An application for student enrollment on file in our office.
• Be a first time student in the barbering industry (transfers from another barber college, or if presently enrolled in LEBC prior to January 1, 2010 will not qualify).
• Three reference letters from non-family members.

Applicants must have had an interview with a LEBC staff member; along with an Application for Student Enrollment on file in our office.  Scholarship applications will be reviewed and evaluated beginning February 1, 2010 and continue until all scholarship funds have been awarded.  Scholarship application deadline is April 30, 2010.  There will be two scholorship awards per year.

Scholarship Terms.

Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic progress with completion of at least 500 or more clock hours and 90% attendance in order to continue to qualify for the award.
